Cargo Handler

Hourly Pay rate: $13.00
Worked for Emery World Wide which is a cargo shipping company. I worked as an cargo handler on one of the 20 or so slides. There are three different jobs at the slide: Pusher, Passer, and Packer. The slide is a 15 foot high by 35 feet long industry strength slide. The slide has a belt that is constantly moving across the top. A package shoot feeds into the beginning of the belt. Every package comes down the shoot and moves across the top of the slide and the Pusher pushes each package down the slide to the corresponding tub. At each tub a Passer take each package and passes it to a Packer in a tub. The Packer packs the tub until it is full and closes it up.

The Packer's job of, packing packages in a tubs, is like playing tetris. The Packer gets packages from the Passer of all different kinds of sizes in random order. The Packer looks at the package given and the current packages in the tub to know where to place the package.

Salesman

Hourly Pay rate: $6.75
Work at RadioShack as a floor salesman. Blue dress shirt nice pants and dress shoes. The job was to convince old ladies to buy cells phone that they did not need. RadioShack had a base hourly rate and they promised commission. The commission was given to employees that sold over so much money in a month. I never could convince myself to convince other people to buy things they do not need or to up grade to features that would not use. It is probably because I am a penny pincher myself.

Security Guard

Hourly Pay rate: $11.00
Worked at Sea World as a park Money Runner. A Money Runner is a security guard the transfers money back and forth from accounting office to the park's shops. This position took three weeks of class room training. I worked the job from August to October of 2004. This was my first job in San Diego. The job was relaxing, which lead to boring after no time at all.

To beat the boredom, the security guard had several places they would go.

The condemned restaurant along the Mission Bay. This place was condemned from a fire about a year prior. To get inside the area one would have to walk though a long wood plank. Once inside one would want to get though as fast as possible, because the building was not that sturdy. Once outside the place was really nice, it had tables out on the grass about 5 feet from the water. The building was surrounded by a water like a moot. The building actual looked like it was a floating house.

We would play poker with change.

We would go up into the tops of the aquarium and visit the sea turtles.

We would go watch TV in the star guest trailers.

I would always like to go watch my wife perform in the Pet's Rule show.
